Top 10 Favorite Things at Trader Joe’s
Let’s go on a mini tour of Trader Joe’s together, shall we?? I have been an avid shopper at TJ’s for the last 10+ years – while they don’t have everything that I’m looking for (therefore I do a lot of my grocery shopping at Costco and sometimes other places as well), they do have certain products that I absolutely love and would be sad to live without! I thought I would share ten of my favorite Trader Joe’s products – keep in mind that while the post says “top 10,” there are really too many favorites to choose from!! Hopefully you will find a new favorite food item to enjoy from this list!
I was recently introduced to this amazing toscano cheese which quickly became a new favorite. I recommend pairing it with some fig and olive crisps or your other favorite TJ’s cracker of choice!
Love being able to buy this organic tahini which I find has a number of highly valuable different uses. You never know when it just might come in handy! If you have never used tahini, I recommend trying out this snickerdoodle tahini date smoothie, Moroccan chicken salad, or some classic hummus to get you started!
I definitely buy these organic tri-color bell peppers on the regular! I love (1) that they are organic and (2) that you get all three colors in one bag. I frequently roast them with a red onion, all drizzled with avocado oil and seasoned heavily with salt and pepper. I also love to use them in wraps, pastas, salads, or for just plain old snacking!
Dark chocolate covered cherries – such an excellent evening snack when paired with a glass of refreshing almond milk! I also love TJ’s dark chocolate covered almonds and as well as the dark chocolate covered espresso beans. What is your favorite TJ’s chocolate or candy?? I’d love to give it a try!
When I am not making my favorite cornbread recipe, I have found that this boxed mix is also quite good!! I love to make cornbread when we are having chili or black bean soup. I think cornbread should be it’s own food group, don’t you agree??
This organic raw honey is a daily must-have item in my opinion! I use it most mornings on top of my oatmeal/almond butter. It is also very useful for the above cornbread when combined with a bit of butter!
Another must-have item on my shopping list is TJ’s plain whole milk yogurt. I recommend buying full-fat yogurt because (a) the fat has beneficial nutritional value (b) it is how yogurt is traditionally meant to be made/eaten and (c) it is much more satisfying! I love to use yogurt each day in overnight oats, smoothies, as a yogurt/granola bowl, and occasionally in baking recipes, too.
We love to have TJ’s salsa on hand – we often use the regular red kind as a taco or scrambled egg topping, and the salsa verde I always buy for making salsa verde chicken chickpea chili.
Lest you think I forgot!! My #1 TJ’s product for sure. You may recall from previous blog posts that TJ’s stopped selling my old go-to chocolate bar which was the 72% Swiss dark chocolate. I think it is due to supply chain issues rather than them discontinuing it. That was a very *distressing dilemma* that I was faced with so I was forced to pivot to this 72% organic Belgian dark chocolate bar – but let me tell you, I have found it to be an outstanding alternative! I would love to be able to try both bars side by side for a taste comparison. Lately they have also had these out of stock at times, so I really hope the stocking issues don’t worsen with this product!! I find it so hard to find quality chocolate bars!
What are your favorite things to get at TJ’s?? I would love some new ideas!
